Editorial policy
How we choose sources, check what our pages say before they go live, and fix mistakes.
Self-help information, not medical care
CaffeineTime publishes general information and simple calculators about caffeine. Our pages are not written or reviewed by doctors, and we don't describe them as medically reviewed. Nothing here diagnoses a condition or replaces advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
Where our information comes from
- Systematic reviews, meta-analyses and controlled trials, linked through PubMed or the publisher (DOI).
- Food-safety and health agencies such as the FDA, EFSA and the NHS.
- For caffeine in drinks: the maker's own label or nutrition page for branded drinks, and food-composition or lab data for generic drinks such as brewed coffee and tea.
We don't cite health blogs or content sites. When studies disagree, or a number varies a lot from cup to cup, we show the range rather than pick one figure.
How we check pages before they go live
- Articles: a team member checks every claim against the source it cites. Until that check is done the page is marked as a draft and hidden from search engines. Checked pages show the date and the name of the person who checked them.
- Drink numbers: every row in our drinks data names its source, where on that source the number is, and the date we read it. A team member compares each row with its source before the drink page goes live.
- Automated checks: our automated tests fail if an article or drink page cites a source we have not registered, links to a page that does not exist, or targets the same search question as another page.
- AI assistance: drafts of text and code may be prepared with AI assistance. A draft is not published until a team member has checked it against the sources.
Calculators
Our calculators use a simple, standard model of how the body clears caffeine (a fixed half-life) and show a range rather than a single number. How we calculate explains the model and what it leaves out.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, or a label that no longer matches our number, email developyourself.studio@gmail.com. We check the source, fix the page and update its date.
Independence
We don't accept payment from drink brands, and no page is sponsored. Brand names are used only to say what their labels state.
